Youth mentoring
From creativity to opportunity.
SOULS ON FIRE is launching a 3-month creative mentoring program for young people in Coolum, starting Thursday 15 October 2026 at 3:30 PM.
Location: Coolum, Sunshine Coast
Address: To be announced
The program uses mural art as a practical pathway for young people to develop creative, professional and life skills.
Over three months, participants will learn what it takes to turn their creativity into real opportunities, from developing their artistic identity and building a professional portfolio to finding work, communicating with clients, preparing quotes and invoices, managing expectations and delivering projects to a professional standard.
Participants will learn:
CREATIVE SKILLS
Developing an artistic voice, building a portfolio, photographing work and presenting themselves professionally.
BUSINESS SKILLS
Understanding pricing, quoting, invoicing, budgeting, finding opportunities and turning creative skills into income.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Communicating with clients, understanding briefs, managing expectations, meeting deadlines, responding to feedback and delivering work to a high standard.
LIFE SKILLS
Building confidence, responsibility, teamwork, communication, problem-solving, resilience and the ability to take ownership of their work.
REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE
Working through the complete process of developing and delivering a mural or community art project, from the initial brief and concept through to planning, preparation, painting and completion.
The aim is to give young people more than an art experience. It is to give them practical skills, real-world experience and the confidence to create opportunities for themselves.
By the end of the program, participants will have developed a stronger portfolio, gained professional experience, learned how to navigate creative opportunities and built the confidence to see their own abilities as something valuable.
We don't just teach young people to paint murals. We use mural art to teach young people how to create opportunities for themselves.
